Description

It follows Dave, a skeptical 19-year-old Londoner who only agrees to go to India because he wants to sleep with Liz, his best friend’s girlfriend. While Liz is determined to have a “spiritual journey,” bathe lepers, and “find herself,” Dave spends most of the trip dreaming of pints of lager, clean toilets, and a decent steak.

The book is a hilarious and often cynical look at the pretentiousness of Western travelers, the reality of “culture shock” (including the inevitable stomach issues), and the awkwardness of young love on the road.
