Description
Set in 1999 as the world prepares for Y2K, this charming “Internet-age” romance follows Lincoln O’Neill, whose job is to monitor company emails for an Omaha newspaper. He’s supposed to flag inappropriate content, but he finds himself captivated by the long, hilarious email threads between two coworkers, Beth and Jennifer.
As Lincoln reads their daily exchanges about their love lives, office drama, and personal fears, he begins to fall for Beth—despite having never actually met her. The novel explores the ethics of privacy and the awkwardness of modern connection, as Lincoln eventually has to figure out how to introduce himself to a woman who has no idea he’s been “watching” her life from the server room.
