Description
The story follows Ronit Krushka, the rebellious, cigarette-smoking daughter of a revered Rav (rabbi). Having fled her upbringing for a secular, bisexual life in New York, she returns home after the death of her father. Her homecoming sends shockwaves through the community, especially when she reconnects with her childhood friends: Esti, who is now married to the Rav’s successor, and Dovid. As Ronit and Esti rekindle a forbidden love, the novel explores the friction between personal freedom and religious duty, the weight of tradition, and what it means to truly belong.
