Hunchback

Description

The story follows Shaka Isawa, a woman living with a severe congenital muscle disorder that has left her with a curved spine and a life dependent on an electric wheelchair and a ventilator. Confined largely to her group home, Shaka lives a vibrant, defiant life online: she tweets scathing social critiques, pursues a remote degree, and writes explicit, provocative stories for an erotica website. Her existence is a carefully managed balance of physical limitations and digital freedom—until she discovers that a young male carer, Tanaka, has read every word of her online work. Rather than retreating in shame, Shaka makes him an “indecent proposal” that challenges the boundaries of care, desire, and bodily autonomy.
