Description
The story follows Tova Sullivan, a seventy-year-old widow who works the night shift as a cleaner at the Sowell Bay Aquarium. To cope with the decades-old mystery of her son Erik’s disappearance, Tova keeps herself meticulously busy. Her life changes when she forms an unlikely bond with Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus is a curmudgeonly but brilliant observer of human behavior who knows far more than anyone suspects. As the “detective” of the tank, Marcellus realizes he has the clues to solve the mystery of what happened to Tova’s son, and he must find a way to communicate the truth to her before his short life comes to an end.
